Alfred State faculty and staff were recently honored with Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Faculty Service, Professional Service, and Classified Service. University Police department, Sammons has become integral to student leadership and student civic engagement. He has led his department to departmental accreditation with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, developed curriculum for campus emergency preparedness and trained personnel, produced a training video that was shared with other SUNY units, and facilitated grants that allowed Alfred State to acquire new emergency sirens. His record shows “active and varied participation as a campus and university citizen,” Anderson stated.

Sue Cole is, in the words of Anderson, “the epitome of excellence in classified service.” Organized at the front line of the dean’s office for the School of Arts and Sciences, she is often put on the spot by students, faculty, and parents, but utilizes her knowledge and experiences to assist rather than shuffle individuals to other offices. Students recognize her commitment of “an ideal combination of compassion and firmness,” and she is admired for her excellence and service. Cole also serves on numerous campus committees, including Honors Convocation and Clerical Professional Development.
