Eight members of the Alfred State football team have been named All-Region following the Pioneers 5-4 season. The blue & gold finished the year as the runner-up in Region III.

Eight members of the Alfred State football team have been named All-Region following the Pioneers 5-4 season.  The blue & gold finished the year as the runner-up in Region III.


Colton Caldwell (Dublin, OH) was named Co-Offensive player of the year while Sammy Diaz (Dansville), Dileel Bartley (Rochester/Edison) and Erik Simmons (Elmira Free) were all named to the All-Region offensive team.  Thomas Daniels (Bronx/ICE), David Howell (Rochester/Greece Athena), Collin Frazer (Woodbridge, VA), and Michael Gibson (Capital Heights, MD) were named to the defensive team.  Frazier was also honored as the Region's return specialist.


Caldwell was the leading receiver for the Pioneers.  He caught 27 passes for 467 yards and five scores.  He also completed 25 passes for 324 yards and a score under center.


Diaz caught 16 passes for 217 yards and a score from his slot wide receiver position. He also rushed for 42 yards and two scores.


Bartley was the Pioneers leading rusher accumulating 281 yards on 73 carries.  He also caught 20 passes for 229 yards and a score.


Simmons pulled in 27 catches from his tight end/wide receiver position. He finished the year with 334 yards receiving and one score.


Daniels led the Pioneers with seven sacks on the year.  He finished the year with 44 tackles (13.5 for a loss) and two fumble recoveries.


Howell accumulated 46 tackles and three sacks from his linebacker position.  He also recovered three fumbles.


Frazer led the team with three interceptions.  He added 51 tackles, a sack, seven pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery.  On special teams he accumulated 355 yards and two scores on punt returns and 280 yards and one score on kick returns.  He finished the season with five total touchdowns (three on special teams, one on defense and one receiving).


Gibson was second on the Pioneers with 69 tackles (11 for a loss).  He had two sacks, three forced fumbles and recovered two fumbles on the year.


Erie CC's Jacob Wims shared offensive player of the year honors with Caldwell while Devin Coney (ECC) was named defensive player of the year, and Tyler Blackburn (ECC) was named special teams player of the year.
