Football players Mikel DeMonte (Brockport) and Thomas Daniels (Bronx/ICE) along with volleyball player Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office.
Demonte had a break-out game vs. the Apprentice School. He caught seven passes for 128 yards. He scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 79-yard pass play. He entered the game with only three catches.
Daniels was a force on the defense. He had a season-high 13 tackles in the contest including 4.5 for a loss. He was also credited with a sack.
Hanrahan was named to the WNYAC All-Tournament team this weekend following a solid performance. She finished the week with 25 kills, 17 digs, and 16 service aces. She also was credited with six blocks.
The Pioneer football team hosts Southern Virginia University on Saturday while the volleyball team travels to the Region III Division III Tournament at Niagara CCC on Saturday.
