Dean Appointed IDP Education Coordinator for Architectural Programs

Professor William C. DeanAlfred State College has announced the appointment of Department of Computer Imaging and Architectural Engineering Technology.

The Intern Development Program, or IDP, is a nationally recognized architectural internship program administered by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). It is required for becoming an architect in New York State.

Educator coordinators are responsible for disseminating up-to-date information on IDP to students and faculty at their school. Like the IDP state coordinators, these volunteers are informed on IDP by the National Chapter of the AIA on a daily basis and also communicate with the AIA, NCARB, and each other regularly. These individuals are also considered trusted sources of information on IDP and are funded to attend the annual IDP Coordinators Conference.

Of his new position, Dean says, “I am thrilled to be serving in this role and to be assisting what I have already found to be an incredibly active, dynamic, and engaged group of students and faculty.”

Dean holds both a MArch and a BPS in architecture from the University at Buffalo and an AAS in architectural technology from Alfred State College. He is a registered architect and a long-standing member of the American Institute of Architects.

In addition, Dean is certified by NCARB and by the Construction Specifications Institute as a construction document technologist and is a Leadership in Energy Efficient Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
