Alfred State sophomore outfielder Jake Dale (Keshequa) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week. Dale hit .464 this past week in eight games for the Pioneers.
Dale was 13 for 28 at the plate this week. He connected on four triples, one homer, and 10 RBI. Jake scored 10 runs and stole three bases. Dale's hit a solo homer in a victory over Ithaca JV on Tuesday and was 4 for 4 with three triples in a 9-6 victory over Monroe CC on Saturday.
For the year, he is hitting .287 (29 for 101) on the season. He has three doubles, eight triples, two homers, and a team high 29 RBI. He has scored 31 runs, stolen six bases and been hit by a pitch 18 times. In Region III Division II play he is hitting .407 with 10 RBI.
The Pioneers open a four-game series with Mercyhurst North East on Thursday at Alfred State. They continue the series on Saturday at MNE. Both doubleheaders are scheduled for 1 p.m. starts.
