The Alfred State men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked third in the latest national poll.

The Alfred State men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked third in the latest national poll.  The women drop one spot from last week while the men remain the same as last week.

The men's team competed at the Yellowjacket Invitational hosted by University of Rochester over the weekend.  The men competed strong against a field filled with four year colleges finishing tenth out of 15 schools.  The men are led by John Sweeney (Barker) with a best time of 27:40 at the Houghton College Highlander Invitational.  The Pioneers are also led by Corey Smith (Walkill) and Logan Drummer (Pioneer).  Smith's best time (28:16) came at the Highlander Invitational while Drummer's best time (28:48) came at the Yellowjacket Invitational.

The Lady Pioneers also competed at the Yellowjacket Invitational finishing 14th in a 16 team field that was mostly four year colleges.  The Lady runners are led by Ashley Fung (Greenwich) whose best time (20:04) came at the Highlander Invitational.  Colleen Hurtubise (Williamsville) has a best time of 21:14 at the Highlander Invitational and Kaleigh Ligoci (Cicero-North Syracuse) has a best time of 21:55 at the Tri-State Invitational at Community College of Rhode Island.

The cross country teams will compete next at the NJCAA Region III Championships in Utica on Saturday October 25
