The Lady Pioneers led 26-25 at halftime but Erie would take advantage of almost a ten minute dry spell to take the lead in the game.  ASC went on a 12-0 run to regain the lead but the Lady Kats went on their own run to re-gain the lead and hold a six point lead with less than 30 seconds left.  Alfred State made a furious comeback attempt as Megan Coates (Nazareth) hit a three to close the game to 52-49 in the closing seconds and Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free) had a three-pointer rim out at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.

Sherelle Brooks led ASC with 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds.  Coates chipped in 10 points.  The Lady Pioneers shot just 25.3% from the field on the day.

In the men's contest, ASC fell behind 35-20 at half but rallied to make it an interesting game late.  ASC cut a 20-point deficit to single digits in the final minutes but never could get closer than six points.

Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) led the way with 15 points while Dan Foley (Irondequoit) added 14 points and seven rebounds.  Geoff Hicks (Buffalo/Cleveland Hill) had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Chris Lorenzo (Syracuse/Corcoran) chipped in 10 points.  Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) finished with nine points, eight rebounds, and seven blocks.

The Pioneers shot just 37.5% from the field and turned the ball over 25 times in the contest.

The men's team continues their road trip on Thursday with a 7 p.m. contest with JCC-Olean at the Olean YMCA while the women have a week off before heading to Mercyhurst North East for a crucial match-up with the Saints (6 p.m.)
