Broome CC had four players finish in double-figures as they defeated Alfred State 78-58 in the season opener for both teams.

Peter Knudson led the way for the Hornets with 22 points and 15 boards while Legree Kirkland finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and nine blocks.  Ricky Odige added 16 and Bryce Shepard finished with 12.

Patrick Parker (Jamaica/Hillcrest) and Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) both finished with 12 points for ASC.  Milton Colquehoun (Silver Springs, MD) and Joe Bowman (Frewsburg) came off the bench and chipped in nine each.

Broome held a 50 to 41 rebound advantage and shot 46.8% from the field and 40% from three-point land.  Alfred State shot just 32.8% from the field, 27.3% from three, and was slowed down by 23 turnovers.

The Pioneers look to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to Corning CC for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Red Barons.
