Brooks Named Region Athlete of the Week

For the second time this season, Alfred State College sophomore Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) has been named the Region III female athlete of the week.  Brooks recorded double-doubles in all three games this past week as the Lady Pioneers were 2-1 to improve to 7-8 on the season.

Brittney BrooksFor the second time this season, Alfred State College sophomore Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) has been named the Region III female athlete of the week.  Brooks recorded double-doubles in all three games this past week as the Lady Pioneers were 2-1 to improve to 7-8 on the season.

Brooks started off the week with a 17 point, 12 rebound performance in ASC's 70-58 victory over Niagara CCC.  She also was credited with eight assists and two steals.

She recorded a season high 30 points on 14 for 21 shooting in a 77-62 loss at Jamestown CC.  She grabbed ten rebounds in the contest and had four steals.

In Saturday's 89-75 victory over Erie CC, Brooks set a new season high with 33 points on 11 for 20 shooting (including 2 for 3 from three and 9 for 14 from the foul line).  She also grabbed 13 rebounds and was credited with four assists and four steals.

Brooks has now scored more than 17 points in all four games during the 2009 portion of the season.  She lead the Lady Pioneers on the season with 17.6 points per game average and a 7.6 rebounds per game average.  She is shooting 42% from the field, 36.4% from three, and 66.7% from the foul line.

Brooks and the Lady Pioneers take on NJCAA Division I Monroe CC on Tuesday and then return home on Thursday for a contest versus Mercyhurst North East.
