The Alfred State College lacrosse team outscored Tompkins Cortland CC 8 to 2 in the 2nd quarter to erase a 1st quarter deficit en route to a 21-17 regular season ending victory.  With the win the Pioneers head into the Region III Tournament with a 8-5 (7-4 Region III) record.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team outscored Tompkins Cortland CC 8 to 2 in the 2nd quarter to erase a 1st quarter deficit en route to a 21-17 regular season ending victory.  With the win the Pioneers head into the Region III Tournament with a 8-5 (7-4 Region III) record.

Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) had three goals and an assist in the pivotal 2nd quarter as the Blue and Gold erased a 7-4 1st quarter deficit.  He led the team with seven points on five goals and two assists.

Bill Jolly (Waterloo) finished with a hat trick and three assists while Josh Mateo (Waterloo) scored three times and led the team with 11 ground balls.  Ryan Grogran (Churchville) continued his solid play with two goals and four helpers.  Cory Mee (Churchville) and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) both found the back of the net twice while Brandon Moyer (Cazenovia) and Jonathan Rivers (Saratoga Springs) scored once each.

Deljae Edwards (Syracuse/Nottingham) made 17 saves in net to register his fifth victory of the year.

Zachary Austin led the Panthers with five goals and two assists while Brandon Macera finished with five goals.  Taylor Catlin made 14 saves in net.  TCCC scored six times with the extra man on eight opportunities.

The Blue and Gold have qualified for the Region III Tournament which begins on Tuesday.  The team will most likely be the #6 seed and have to play at #3 Hudson Valley CC but the official seedings will be announced late Sunday night. 

The Pioneers return to the postseason after not qualifying for the tournament in 2007.
