The Alfred State College baseball team earned a pair of walk-off wins as they swept a doubleheader from Jamestown CC on Saturday, 4-3 and 3-2.  The wins are the first of the fall for the Pioneers and improve the team to 2-8 in WNYAC play.

The Alfred State College baseball team earned a pair of walk-off wins as they swept a doubleheader from Jamestown CC on Saturday, 4-3 and 3-2.  The wins are the first of the fall for the Pioneers and improve the team to 2-8 in WNYAC play.

In the opener, Mitch Smith (Greece Arcadia) singled home the tying run and Dylan Dunn (Hornell) came around to score on an outfield error to lift the Pioneers walked off with a 4-3 victory.  Jake Kenney (Alfred Almond) singled with one out in the 7th to start the rally, Dunn followed with a single of his own before the deciding hit by Smith.

Garrett Hoag (Dansville) was 3 for 3 with a RBI on the day and tossed a complete game six hitter.  He allowed three earned runs while walking two and striking out ten.  Dunn also chipped in two hits finishing 2 for 3.

Dunn delivered the game-winning hit with no outs in the top of the 7th to lift the Pioneers to the sweep.  His single brought home Greg Koller (Chesterland, OH) to start the inning.

Dunn was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI to pace the offense.  Eric Mehaffey (Ogdensburg) was 2 for 3 and Koller was 2 for 4.

Stephen Golembiewski (Cattaraugus Little Valley) allowed four hits and two runs in seven innings of work to pick up his first collegiate victory.  He walked four and struck out one.

ASC closes out their WNYAC regular season on Sunday when they host Genesee CC in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
