The Pioneers enter the contest with a 7-5 overall fall record and a 5-5 mark in WNYAC play. The blue & gold met the Trailblazers earlier in the season with NCCC winning a pair of 1-0 pitching duels. NCCC will enter the tournament with a 4-6 WNYAC mark.
Stevie Smith (Hornell) leads the Pioneers with a .300 batting average this fall while JP Frey (Erie, PA) is hitting .276. Jake Dale (Keshequa) has driven in 7 while Kyle Barkley (Penn Yan) has six RBI.
On the mound, Joe Wallace (Avoca) and Mark Ciccotti (Horsheads) have been the team leaders. Wallace is 2-2 with a 1.30 ERA in 27.2 innings of work. He has walked nine and struck out 31. Ciccotti is 2-1 with a 0.70 ERA in 25.2 innings. He has walked just two and struck out 21.
The winner of this first round contest will match-up with #1 seeded Monroe CC in the WNYAC Final Four on Saturday. The WNYAC Final Four will be played at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia.
#1 Monroe CC receives a bye in the first round while #2 Genesee CC takes on #7 Mercyhurst North East, and #3 Erie CC takes on #6 Jamestown CC.
