Jared Morris got the Knights on the board in the 1st quarter when he scored on a five-yard scamper to cap a 15-play 67-yard drive. The PAT was blocked.
Morris connected with Keith Gladden on a six-yard pass play with 8:03 remaining in the 2nd quarter. The touchdown pass capped a 14-play 78-yard drive. The two-point conversion was good making it 14-0 heading into half
Gladden and Morris connected on their 2nd scoring strike of the game with 10:55 remaining in the 3rd quarter to give the Knights a 20-0 lead. Globe took the 2nd half opening kick-off 70-yards on nine plays for the score. The two point conversion was stopped by the A-State defense.
Alfred State got on the board and cut the lead to 20-6 when Grant Tamme (Danville, KY) connected with Geoff Hicks (Buffalo/Cleveland Hill) on a 29-yard scoring play. The PAT was unsuccessful.
Calvin Corbin (Winslow, NJ) made it 20-13 when he teamed with Tamme on a 43-yard pass play with 14:17 remaining in the contest.
Alfred's defense held Globe on the next possession but was unable to capitalize and had to punt the ball away. Glove sealed the game with 5:05 remaining when they capped a 12-play 76-yard drive with Morris' 3rd touchdown pass of the game. Morris connected with Brett Scott from five yards out to make it 28-13 following the successful two-point conversion.
Morris finished the day 27 for 43 for 254 yards. He also carried the ball 17 times for 106 yards. Gladden finished the day with 130 yards receiving on 10 catches.
Tamme finished 11 for 29 for 202 yards and two scores. Mike Septh (Monroe Woodbury) caught four passes for 74 yards while Hicks finished with 69 yards receiving on three catches.
Derel Williams led Globe with eight tackles and a sack. Taylor Garcia finished with seven tackles and two sacks while Asumana Kaba recorded two sacks. The Knights sacked ASC six times.
Clifton Krotz (Cattaraugus Little Valley) led the Pioneer defense with 11 tackles while Nick Monroe (Irondequoit) added 10 tackles. John Chisolm (Trenton, NJ) added nine tackles and picked off his 7th pass of the season which ties the school single season record.
The Pioneers continue their three-game home stand next Saturday when they host NFC foe Dean College. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon at Maple City Park in Hornell.
