The Alfred State College athletic department is preparing to host the Summer Sports Festival.  The summer sports festival consists of the Day Camp, in its 28th year, and the Learn-to-Swim Program, in its 41st year.

The Alfred State College athletic department is preparing to host the Summer Sports Festival.  The summer sports festival consists of the Day Camp, in its 28th year, and the Learn-to-Swim Program, in its 41st year.

The day camp will begin on June 29 and run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. until July 24th.  The camp includes a totally supervised program of daily instruction in a variety of sports, arts & crafts, and recreational activities, in addition to a daily free swim period each afternoon.

The learn-to-swim program offers swimming lessons for ages two and up with parents having the choice of three classes of instruction (Typical classes- 3 to 5 students per instructor, Special classes - two students per instructor, and private lesons).

The athletic department will be hosting sport camps in track & field, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. 

  • Coach Gary Moore will run his annual track and field camp beginning on June 2.  Cost is $30
  • Coach Jerry Jusianiec will run two basketball camps.  Gym Rats for ages 4-9 will take place July 13-17 between 2:15 - 4:45 p.m. while the Skills Camp ($90) for ages 10-17 will take play August 3-5 between 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. ($100)
  • Coach Gene Doorley will run volleyball camp from July 27 - 31.  The beginner wave runs from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. while advance wave runs from Noon - 3 p.m.
  • Coach Anne Holmok will run a soccer camp from June 29 - July 2 from 10 a.m. - Noon.  Camp is for ages 9-13 and costs $50.
