Alfred State College is getting prepared to host the annual summer sports festival.  The 2008 version of the sports festival will include the 27th annual day camp and the 40th learn to swim program.  Alfred State coaches will also be sponsoring camps in Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.

Alfred State College is getting prepared to host the annual summer sports festival.  The 2008 version of the sports festival will include the 27th annual day camp and the 40th learn to swim program.  Alfred State coaches will also be sponsoring camps in Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.

The day camp runs from June 30th until July 25th from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The camp includes a totally supervised program of instruction in a variety of sports, arts, and crafts, and recreational activities, in addition to a daily free swim period each afternoon.  The camp costs $120 for more information contact camp director Gary Moore (607) 587-4358.

The learn to swim program offers swimming lessons for ages two and up.  Lessons are offered in various sizes and in seven skill levels.  Lessons are scheduled at half hour intervals from 9 a.m. to Noon.  Cost of lessons range from $65 to $105 for the whole four week program based on the lesson size chosen.  For more information on the learn to swim program contact Gina Boyd (607) 587-4363.

Men's basketball coach Jerry Jusianiec will host two basketball camps this summer.  For more information on either camp contact Coach Jusianiec at (607) 587-4365. 

  • The skills camp will run June 30-July 3rd and is geared for boys and girls ages 10-17 as a building block on skills and fundamentals of the game.  Camp runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the Orvis Activities Center.  The cost of the camp is $100 and includes a water bottle, t-shirt, and basketball. 
  • The gym rats camp will run August 4-8 for boys and girls ages 4-9.  The camp teaches introductory basketball skill in a fun way.  Camp runs from 9 a.m. to Noon and costs $90 and includes a water bottle, t-shirt, and basketball.

Volleyball coach Gene Doorley will host camps for both beginning volleyball players and advance players between July 28-August 1 at the Orvis Activities Center.  The begginer camp runs from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. while the advanced camp runs from Noon until 3 p.m.  The camp costs $80 which includes a t-shirt and a water bottle. Women's soccer coach Anne Holmok will hold a soccer camp for ages 8 to 12.  Soccer skills will be taught in a fun learning environment while basic fundamentals will be taught to help each camper become more a confident player and learn to play competitive soccer at an age appropriate level.  The camp costs $40 and runs from 10 a.m. to Noon, July 14-17.  For more information contact Coach Holmok at (607) 587-4364.
