The Alfred State College football team dug themselves into too big a hole and fell 27-14 to Dean College.  The Pioneers are now 4-4 on the year while the Bulldogs are 6-3.

Dean put together scoring drives in each of the first two quarters.  They put together a 60-yard scoring drive in the 1st and a 80-yard drive in the 2nd.

The Bulldogs looked to put the game out of reach in the 3rd with two scroing drives to lead 27-0 heading into the 4th quarter.

Alfred State started a rally when Cody Scepaniak (Vestal) scored from one yard out to cap a eight play 54-yard drive.  Josh Franchina (Cassada Valley) added the extra point.

Five minutes later, Josh Griffin (Englewood, NJ) threw a half back pass to Devin Simmons (Elmira Free) to cut it to 27-14 after another Franchina PAT.

The Pioneers had the ball three more times but could never get any closer.

Griffin finished with four catches for 46 yards while Simmons had four catches for 44 yards.  Emmanuel Magliocco (Rochester/Aquinas) finished 11 for 25 for 116 yards.

Kyle Ricks (Alexandria, VA/Mt. Vernon) finished with 11 tackles while Justin Smith (Richmond, VA/CD Hylton) had nine tackles and a sack.  Sir Aaron Taylor (West Chester/Lincoln Hall) chipped in seven tackles and an interception and Brett Harrington (Rochester/East) picked off a pass.

Jawad Yatim passed for 294 yards while Rico Brazil rushed for 99 for Dean.

Alfred plays their final home game of the season next Saturday when they host Nassau CC.  Kickoff is at Noon.
