The winners received a “Best Beards/Braids” tee-shirt, and a spot on an ORC trip of their choice.
Students, faculty, and staff at Alfred State College competed in the 1st Annual “Best Beards and Braids” fundraising contest which ran through the month of November. The competition was sponsored by the veterinary technology (braids) and Doug Sassaman, Hellertown, PA, mechanical engineering at Alfred University (beards). The winners received a “Best Beards/Braids” tee-shirt, and a spot on an ORC trip of their choice.
There were nearly 30 competitors who paid $10 each to participate, and with additional donations, the Outdoor Recreation Club raised approximately $500 to be donated to the Alfred State College Emergency Relief Fund. This fund is used for direct aid for those in need of help following a disaster, administrative costs incurred with the help, and transportation costs.
