New Student Move-In is scheduled for Aug. 14 -16 and will be detailed in your housing letter, sent by Residential Services in the next couple of weeks. This letter will detail the move-in process and how to easily manage your arrival to campus. Wondering what you should bring? See our Guide to Moving & Packing for a checklist.
Week of Welcome is the lead-up week dedicated to orienting new students to the campus events, clubs and organizations, and culture! There are events such as New Student Convocation, Actives Fair, Job Fair, and Days of Service for students to participate in, and get connected to the campus community.
New Student Convocation – an event where students are welcomed to the Alfred State community through a rite of passage type ceremony. Students are celebrated by faculty and staff, and then take the first steps in becoming a Pioneer!
Activities Fair – The activities fair is a chance for new students to check out the clubs and organizations' showcases of their events and activities. This is a great way to get involved and introduce yourself to new things!
Job Fair – This is an opportunity for new students to figure out who on campus is hiring. The library, Student Activities, and ACES are a few of the most common places that students are hired.
Days of Service – This is a civic engagement and community service event. Students group together and help different parts of the outside community. Common places students volunteer for are the Allegany SPCA, the local libraries, and clean-ups in town.
