Financial planning

Through field trips, Nathanael has networked with financial planning professionals and learned more about the field.

Nathanael Gisellie feels well-prepared to enter the workforce thanks to what he has learned both inside and outside of the classroom at Alfred State College.

As a financial planning student, Nathanael likes the real-world learning experiences he receives in class, as well as the one-on-one interaction he is able to have with his professors.

“I enjoy the relationship with the teachers that you get at Alfred State that you don’t really get with other colleges, especially in a big classroom.”

Outside of the classroom, Nathanael has furthered his knowledge by joining the Financial Planning Club, and also by attending program-related field trips and conferences in Rochester and Chicago. Through these trips, Nathanael has networked with financial planning professionals and learned more about the field.

“Because of these opportunities, you get a better grasp on what jobs are out there, what companies are out there, and what it is that you actually want to do because financial planning is a really broad field.”

Nathanael highly recommends Alfred State’s financial planning program, and encourages others to enter this growing field.

“The number of people who need financial planners are outnumbering the advisers, so we’re in need of more young financial planners.”
