President Dr. Skip Sullivan said, “Alfred State is deeply saddened by the loss of Jon Shay, who has long been a strong supporter of our college. In Jon’s honor, we are lowering the college flag at half-staff for the rest of the week."
For those who have the means to do so, Healy said, it’s important to give back, “especially with all the other things that are going on in the world right now.”
Jessica Longwell, a 2015 Alfred State nursing graduate, was recently recognized as an extraordinary nurse by The DAISY Foundation.
“Every one of you should be proud of all that we’ve accomplished,” Sullivan said. “Was it easy? Heck no. Did we have to change course and make adjustments? Repeatedly and often. Did we learn from it and are we better prepared for the future because of it? Why yes. We are educators and that’s what we do to expand knowledge and grow.”
