Julian Dautremont-SmithJulian Dautremont-Smith, chief sustainability officer at Alfred State, recently contributed to a book project of Widener Law Distinguished Professor John C. Dernbach that supports the national movement for more sustainable products, practices, lifestyles, and policies. The project is the only nongovernmental effort in the U.S. to comprehensively assess the nation’s sustainability activities.

Two from Alfred State Appointed to WNY Cleaner, Greener Communities Program

Two administrators at Alfred State – Julian Dautremont-Smith, chief sustainability officer – have been appointed to the Western New York regional planning team of the Cleaner, Greener Communities Program (CGC). The initiative is administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture Added

Alfred State is pleased to announce the addition of a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree to program offerings at the college. This addition to the School of Architecture, Management and Engineering Technology will be accepting new students beginning in fall 2013.

Alfred State Signs Sustainability Pledge

Alfred State has signed the “Commitment to Sustainable Practices of Higher Education Institutions,” joining almost 200 other college and universities worldwide. It is one of many voluntary commitments to support sustainability initiatives made as part of Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, which began meeting on June 20.

Four Athletes Honored for Academic Excellence

Four Alfred State student-athletes were honored by the NJCAA for their excellence in the classroom. Thomas Anderson (Sodus) and Amanda Bush (Altoona, PA) earned the NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement while Joe Markel (Arkport) and Zinta Rutins (Silver Spring, MD) earned the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement.

Packard Selected to Participate in AP® Reading

Alfred State Announces Football Schedule

Hart Named All-Region and All-WNYAC, Lowry and Stowell Named All-WNYAC

The postseason awards for the Alfred State lacrosse team have come in and Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) was named 2nd team All-Region and 1st team All-WNYAC. Attackmen Chance Lowry (Waterloo) and goalie Brad Stowell (Marcellus) were both named 2nd team All-WNYAC.
