Jeremy Speed Schwartz is a transplant from Southern California where he worked in animation, ran a film non-profit and was an artist-in-residence at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Before that, he bummed around Japan for a while after finishing an MFA in experimental animation from the California Institute of the Arts and a BA in film and digital media from UC Santa Cruz. When he's not teaching, Jeremy is a filmmaker and interactive artist who frequently collaborates with The League of Imaginary Scientists. Jeremy sits on the board of Hornell Community Theater, and is a performing member of several Rochester-based theater, choral, and chamber music groups.

Bonus Facts:

  • Jeremy once toured Los Angeles in the cast of an opera based on Super Mario Bros. The show was once ironically booked for a Sega event.
  • Jeremy's grandparents were written into 'Stranger in a Strange Land' by Robert Heinlein. His grandmother's description is particularly flattering.
  • He once went to Neverland Ranch and had a great time. He was 22 at the time.
  • Jeremy makes a decent vegan cheesecake. Sometimes it's also gluten-free. Nobody knows what's actually in it.
  • Jeremy is working on his solo violin covers of David Bowie songs.
  • He grew up as the child of two psychiatrists. He is probably well-adjusted.
