Joy Carlson (Input, Harmony, Responsibility, Includer, Developer) is a caring, student- oriented professor of architecture who is a licensed, registered architect in Pennsylvania and New York. Married with two adventurous daughters, ages 21 and 31, and known as K1 and K2, (being nicknamed after Dr. Suess’ Thing 1 and Thing 2) she has a hard time keeping up with them. In addition to maintaining a residential practice, Joy loves to bake, especially brownies, cookies, and bread. She is the adviser to WINS (Women In Nontraditional Studies) which was established by her in 1993 to foster a venue for any student wishing to participate in professional development activities, but the club has taken on a community service component in the past 12 years. Receiving both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Science in Architecture, Joy embraces any opportunity to share her love of historic buildings.
