Pioneer Parent Fund

A Message to Parents

You are invited to participate in the Pioneer Parent Fund, an opportunity for you to provide critical financial support necessary to enhance life beyond the classroom. The Pioneer Parent Fund is one of the most effective methods for parents to collaborate with the College to provide programs such as national competitions, peer tutoring, and civic engagement and student leadership programs.

What do gifts to the Pioneer Parent Fund support?

National Competitions

Pictured here, l-r, the Alfred State College BUV team: Steve Manzoni, Rochester; Pat Mohr, Limestone; Kevin Sullivan (team leader), Gasport; Brad McClean, Lake View; and Mike Marsigliano, Staten Island. The parent fund provides support for students, classes, and organizations interested in participating in national competitions such as BUV, solar car, concrete canoe, robotics, steel bridge, culinary arts, and more. It is all hands-on, and our students learn to be innovative, creative, and apply skills readily so that they can “Hit the Ground Running!”

Peer Tutoring

Funding to the Peer Tutoring Program offers free peer tutoring services for many courses, giving more students tutoring opportunities. Peer tutors are students who have earned an A or B in a course and have received special training.

Civic Engagement and Student Leadership Programs

ASC students helping to rebuild HaitiThe parent fund directly supports new student-led initiatives that help provide our students with the civic and leadership skills they need to continue our College’s commitment to making the world a better place; whether it is earthquake-ravaged Haiti or flooding in western New York.
