Culinary Arts Center
Fine Dining Facility Project
This project will transform the architectural appearance and instructional facilities of the existing culinary arts building on the School of Applied Technology campus.
The project includes:
- a state-of-the-art food lab area for fine dining, baking and pastry preparation
- an 80-person restaurant and conference facility
- a media-enhanced food preparation classroom
- a functional greenhouse for growing fresh herbs and other food items
- a reception area
The anticipated cost of this project is 1.25 million dollars. The college is unable to build this with state funds because the State of New York does not own, but rather leases, this campus through the Educational Foundation. We therefore will be raising the funds for the facility through private donations. Fundraising efforts have already begun and every dollar donated will finance construction, purchase the materials, and provide state-of-the-art equipment for this first class addition. (See a list of available naming opportunities.) Our culinary programs are in high demand and this venture will enhance what is offered to the students and continue to recruit new students and produce exceptional graduates.
The New Fine Dining Facility Will:
- Enhance our ability to deliver qualified graduates to the work force of the culinary industry
- Attract additional students to Alfred State’s programs
- Expose our students to an innovative dining and food production lab
- Provide a ready-to-work pool of young culinary professionals
- Expand the ability to have “realworld” experiences, where students truly learn by doing
