SART stands for the Sexual Assault Response Team. SART was formed to assist Alfred State students who had been victims of sexual assault, and to help educate the college community about sexual misconduct.
A Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Advocate is a volunteer Alfred State College staff or faculty member that has received training in assisting victims of sexual assaults. A SART advocate's role is:
SART advocates can accompany the victim to the hospital, to UPD to give a report, to counseling services, and even through the judicial process. The main role of the SART advocate is to provide support and assistance. Upon request, a SART advocate can make appropriate referrals for the victim to counseling appointments, meetings with lawyers, medical appointments, etc.
