Mission
The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) has a primary mission of coordinating and implementing a comprehensive multicultural experience for the college community. Through educational workshops/programs, cultural programs, advocacy and outreach, OMA facilitates student growth in multicultural competence. While serving as a resource for ALANA (African-American, Latino-American, Asian-American and Native-American) students in matters of academic, social, cultural and personal well-being, OMA promotes all students' understanding and appreciation of racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation and other differences. OMA is committed to creating opportunities for students to challenge bias by promoting sustained dialogues around individual differences and to prepare students to be engaged and effective citizens in an increasingly global society. OMA collaborates with other academic departments and student affairs offices on campus to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all.
Vision
The vision of the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is to foster a climate which recognizes and embraces the value multicultural diversity brings to the educational experience at Alfred State College. OMA strives to create a campus-wide climate of respect and advocates for an environment where diversity is celebrated as an integral part of the campus community.
