Counseling Services at Alfred State College offers a broad spectrum of support services for students so they might realize the full benefit from their college experience. Informed by a human science perspective, the department strives to meet the needs of all Alfred State students, whether their concerns are personal, vocational, or educational in nature.
Our intention is to assist students through the developmental tasks associated with college life, to facilitate more effective coping strategies, and to promote and maintain meaningful interpersonal relationships. The department is also committed to helping students manage psychological crises (emergencies) that may arise in response either to a pre-existing mental health condition or to the pressures associated with the demands of an academic environment.
In Counseling Services, we are proud to help our students do an impressive job of finishing what they start. The staff seeks to provide a warm and caring office atmosphere in which students are treated with sensitivity and dignity. Counseling is held in strict confidence in keeping with accepted professional practice.
