Alfred State College
Be a Life Changer Alumni News
My name is Roxana Sammons and I am Alfred State College’s new director of Alumni Relations, replacing Colleen Argentieri who retired this past spring after 32 years of employment at the college. Colleen worked very hard for you, and I know I have big shoes to fill! For those of you who don’t know me, I was a first-generation student who is forever proud of graduating from Alfred State. My education and degree I received here have afforded me wonderful opportunities, and I’m honored to serve as the next director of Alumni Relations.
Our lives are much different now than they were six months ago. The second day in my new role was disrupted by COVID-19 and the way we do things has changed dramatically. (Virtual events anyone?) Many of our events have been postponed or canceled to heed recommendations for social distancing. Going forward we will include more virtual events. Although we may not always be able to gather together, we’re never far apart!
It’s important to us that you stay connected and involved with your alma mater. We currently have 14 alumni chapters and are looking to add additional chapters in Dallas and Denver. If you are interested in joining a chapter or serving as a chair, please visit our website or contact me directly. We are engaging in a myriad of ways, from our traditional venues to virtual webinars and community service projects.
Remember, we want to hear from you! Be sure to visit our alumni page to update your information, get the most recent updates on our events, and take advantage of the benefits provided to you, our alumni.
Before closing, on behalf of our alumni family, I want to thank all our alumni working as essential employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whatever your role, I know that you and your fellow Alfred State alumni are doing what you’ve always done – rolling up your sleeves, working hard, and helping to find solutions. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an esteemed group!
Take care and be well,
Roxana Sammons, ’08

Director of Alumni Relations
The Alfred State College Alumni Chapters program is for Alfred State alumni to connect and engage with one another, as well as with the college, through leadership and volunteer opportunities, local events, social and professional networking, and philanthropy.
We are excited to announce we now have 14 chapters throughout the country, and we hope to continue this growth. The Alumni Chapters program has the unique ability to engage our alumni geographically and demographically, while at the same time building a network that celebrates and supports Alfred State alumni and the college.
Our goal is to continue to provide a platform for strategic and sustainable program growth by increasing alumni-to-alumni and alumni-to-college engagement, while ensuring overall development of alumni as ambassadors of Alfred State College.
We are also planning to establish chapters in Dallas, TX, and Denver, CO. If you are interested in being on a chapter in one of regions mentioned or creating one in your region, please be sure to contact Alumni Relations at 607-587-3931 or alumni@alfredstate.edu. We are excited and look forward to hearing from you!
