Dr. Marty Schmidt, Vice President and Director of Environmental Remediation in Cleveland, OH, will be the guest speaker at the New Horizon’s Forum , presented by the School of Arts and Sciences at Alfred State, on Thursday evening, March 14 in the Physical and Health Sciences Building, Room 107. The program will start at 6:30 p.m. following a brief reception that begins at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in Lot No. 8 on the Alfred State campus .
Schmidt’s presentation, “Implementation of Sustainable Remediation Opportunities for ‘Win-Win’ Solutions for all Stakeholders”, focuses on the remediation effort involving the former Sinclair Refinery in Wellsville and how the Atlantic Richfield Company developed a holistic, ‘win-win’ approach that provided a long-term contribution to the environment, the community, local businesses, regulators, and others. His presentation details the techniques, remedies, and the overall methodology that was used to address the situation.
