Alfred State College students, faculty, and staff continue their fund raising efforts for Haiti relief and are pleased to note that the college community has so far raised $5,779.24 for Haiti Outreach [1], directed by Neil Van Dine, son of retired Wellsville ophthalmologist Dr. Kenneth Van Dine who addressed the campus community in January [2]. The “Rebuild Haiti, One Brick at a Time [3]” campaign has so far raised $2,800; the Give-up-a-Meal event and ACES [4] (Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services, the campus dining and vending operation) employee donation (1-25-10) raised $2,792.24; donations collected at ASC sporting events thus far amount to $50; “Pie-an-RA” program netted $100; and funds given following Dr. Van Dine’s presentation totaled $37. Additional events are planned throughout the semester.
