A group of 42 students from the five boroughs of New York City, who have been accepted to enroll at Alfred State College in the fall, visited campus recently and spent a whirlwind 24 hours on campus. ASC Admissions Counselor Ann Baldwin, whose recruiting area covers the NYC area, met these students in New York City and accompanied them on the bus trip to Alfred. While in transit, Baldwin did a little acculturation with the students, pointing out such things as the change in landscape and the fields of Holsteins! Once in Alfred, students were treated to social activities, stayed overnight in the residence halls with current students, and visited academic areas and coaches as their interests dictated. Without this opportunity to visit the campus, many of these students would have arrived at ASC "sight unseen" to begin classes in the fall. Students were given cameras to record their visit and plans are in the works to award gift certificates to the campus bookstore for the best shots. Pictured here, the group happily poses for a photo!
