Students enrolled in the culinary arts programs at Alfred State College will prepare a Mardi Gras celebration, featuring a New Orleans-style menu, on Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 5-7 p.m., in the student cafeteria of the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus.
Offerings will include New Orleans-style food, featuring carved flank steak, Louisiana gumbo, beignets, and a dessert bar.
Masked wait staff will serve patrons at tables decked out in bright colors designed to evoke a Mardi Gras atmosphere; jazz selections will provide additional ambience. Guests will receive complimentary Mardi Gras beads in the traditional colors of green, gold, and purple.
Cost of the event is $13 for adults; $6 for children 10 and under. Proceeds from the event, which is sponsored by the Top Hat Club (the culinary honor society), will benefit the Club's Activity Fund.
Culinary senior Larry Johnson, Leicester, is manager of the event.
The event is open to the public; no reservations will be accepted.
