Some 900 two- and four-year graduates, their families, professors, and friends were on hand Sunday, May 13, as Alfred State College honored its 96th graduating class. Dr. John B. Clark, interim college president, presided over the ceremony. Student speaker Morgan Masters, Syracuse, recounted for her fellow graduates the experiences-good and not so good-they shared while attending Alfred State College, and how these experiences prepared them all for the ("real") life ahead. "The experiences have changed my life forever; and knowing that the life lessons I've been taught here at Alfred State have touched me in ways that I will never forget. "The next chapter of our lives starts here, today. Enjoy the journey." Masters is the daughter of Susan and Melvin Taber of Syracuse. During her time at Alfred State College, Masters was active in a variety of areas, including serving as president of the student chapter of Associated General Contractors; member of Women in Nontraditional Studies; chair of Student Senate Executive Board; entertainment chair of Alfred Programming Board; secretary for Tor Echo (student newspaper); co-captain for late night events; member of Alfred Programming Board; member of Yearbook Club; member of Hall Council; resident assistant; Paraprofessional Staff Member of the Month, October 2005; honored for community spirit and outstanding leadership as a Residential Life staff member.
