Vice President for Student Affairs
Gregory Sammons, vice president for student affairs, joined Alfred State staff in 1996. Appointed as the chief of police in 2005, Sammons assumed duties as the vice president for student affairs in January 2013.
As vice president for student affairs, Sammons leads a division of approximately 65 professional staff and over 100 paraprofessional staff with diverse areas of focus including Intercollegiate Athletics, Center for Civic Engagement, Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Student Engagement and Activities, Health and Wellness Services, University Police, Residential Services, Greek Life, and Judicial Affairs.
Sammons holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in criminal justice from Finger Lakes Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Houghton College, and a Master of Justice Administration degree from Norwich University. Sammons was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2012.
Sammons currently holds professional affiliations with NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and ACPA - College Student Educators International.
