When it comes to finding jobs, Alfred State is a great place to start.
When Jessica graduated from Alfred State’s CAD program she went right to work as a designer for Praxair, the largest industrial gases company in North and South America. The company serves the aerospace, chemicals, electronics, energy, food and beverage, healthcare, manufacturing, and metals industries.
“I first attended a different college for veterinary science. But it just wasn’t what I had expected. Since my parents are machinists and my brother attended Alfred State for computer-aided drafting and design (CAD), I decided to pursue CAD myself.
“When I toured the Wellsville Campus, I knew that I’d be a student known by my name and not just a number. The hands-on learning and one-on-one time with professors really grabbed my attention. Plus, they stressed that the majority of students would have jobs before they graduated.
“My first day of class, I felt comfortable, even though I was one of only three girls. My teachers helped me become more career-oriented, professional and most importantly, more mature. And Mr. Martinelli helped me find my design job here at Praxair, a position that I really enjoy.”
