Below is a message from LTC Michael A. Bianchi, LTC, Aviation, St. Bonaventure University.
I would like to make you and your family aware of a unique and prestigious program available to students - the United States Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Program. For several years, the Seneca Battalion has provided the US Army with qualified cadets who, upon receiving a bachelor's degree, have been commissioned as Second Lieutenants. Following graduation, you will have the unique opportunity to serve your country as a commissioned officer in the Active Army, Army National Guard, or Army Reserve.
The basic military science leadership classes are open to all students and provide a solid foundation for the leadership experience that all companies are looking for in their employees. This encompasses the first two years of your college studies and requires no commitment or obligation.
Army ROTC provides valuable experience and training that prepares students for many different careers and jobs. Most significantly, Army ROTC prepares individuals to be leaders, to develop a strong work ethic, to be good decision-makers, to develop successful organizational and time-management skills, and to be healthy in both body and mind. Army ROTC places great emphasis on honesty, integrity, and character, thereby promoting the development of our young men and women into outstanding citizens.
Last but not least, there can be numerous financial benefits resulting form participation in Army ROTC. Cadets enrolled in ROTC are able to compete for scholarships and benefits that cover up to 100% of tuition and fees valued at $26,946/year and $1,200/year for books. Contracted cadets also receive a monthly stipend between $300 and $500. As a cadet, you will also be exposed to a vast amount of training and experiences that are not available in the civilian sector. Medical and military training opportunities that are available to cadets include:
- Nurses Summer Training Program (NSTP) at the following locations:
- Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) - Honolulu, HI
- Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) - Ft. Bragg, NC
- Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) - Landstuhl, Germany
- Brook Army Medical Center (BAMC) - San Antonio, TX
- United States Army Airborne School
- United States Army Air Assaut School
- Cadet Troop Leadership Training
- Army Mountain Warfare School
