Welcome to Alfred State College!
The January orientation session, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, begins with registration from 8:30 - 9 a.m. in the Central Dining Hall Allegany Room with a continental breakfast. Following this, we will have an "Ask the Experts" session where you will meet a select panel of Alfred State professionals. Here you will be presented with information which will answer your last minute questions provided by a wide-range of campus departments, resources, and programs. We will also provide you with a packet of useful materials and a "New Student Checklist" so that you can ensure that all the necessary steps have been taken to begin your new academic career. Your day will conclude at approximately 2 p.m.
By the end of this day you will have completed academic advising, received your class schedule, completed placement testing (if necessary), had your student ID picture taken, selected your meal plan, and be well on your way to making yourself at home at Alfred State College. Please make sure that your admissions deposit has been processed prior to Tuesday, Jan. 12. Your bill must be paid/processed by 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15 so that your classes will not be dropped.
The cost for your attendance at this orientation session is covered by the mandatory orientation fee as part of your student bill. However, if guests attend with you, they will be responsible for their own lunch. We ask that you register with the Orientation Office at (607) 587-3114 by Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, so that we will know how many people to expect. Additionally, if you will be living on campus for the spring semester, you are welcome to move into your residential assignment on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, between 12 noon and 4 p.m.
