Description:

The emerging field of computer imaging and animation is impacting virtually every industry and profession. The digital media and animation program provides students with a broad range of technical, creative, and problem-solving skills to facilitate their employment in new media and animation. At the core of the program is an eight-semester sequence of studio courses that enhance individual artistic creativity and provide instruction in the traditional arts and industry standard computer graphics software. Students are required to enter a minimum of two (2) film festivals to meet graduation requirements.

Entrance Requirements & Recommendations:

Required: Math A (algebra), SAT and/or ACT scores with a recommended combined SAT score of 1000 (critical reading and math) or a composite ACT score of 21.  

Features & Facilities:

Students will have access to studios for foundations, 2D Design and Color, Figure Drawing, and 3D Design and Color. Students will also have access to computer labs that run industry-standard software including, but not limited to, Maya, Photoshop, Flash, After Effects, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Final Cut Pro. High end equipment such as digital cameras, digital video cameras, and digital audio recorders are also available for student use. Studios are open 24 hours for baccalaureate student access.

Career Opportunities:

Graduates may seek employment in computer animation, Web design, television, interactive media, game, and other venues in which computer graphics are employed.

Students must complete at least one course from each of the 10 SUNY General Education silos.

Minimum of "C" is also required for FNAT 2423, 2433, 1313, 3513.

Also required - One unit of Physical Education.
