Student involvement in project-based learning includes participating in real world construction projects, building foundations, installing masonry veneer, construction of chimneys, fire places, brick ovens and local community projects.
Median salary is $49,490. Skilled masons are in high demand and employment opportunities are available in the unions, and landscaping and construction companies. About 24,800 openings for masonry workers are projected each year, on average, over the next decade. These openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.
