A total of 22 sport management students were able to meet with more than 20 sports teams and organizations earlier this month at the Binghamton Senators Sports Marketing Career Fair.
A total of 22 sport management students were able to meet with more than 20 sports teams and organizations earlier this month at the Binghamton Senators Sports Marketing Career Fair.
Held March 4 at the Floyd L. Maines Arena in downtown Binghamton, the event featured representatives and hiring personnel from professional, minor league, and collegiate sports, as well as sports media. Organizations included Watkins Glen International, the American Hockey League, Minor League Baseball, iHeart Radio, Galaxy Communications, the State University of New York Athletic Conference, and more.
Alfred State was one of 15 schools that attended the career fair. Sport management students who participated were Matt McCarty (Schenectady), Takim Grant (Brooklyn), Joshua Ashley (Brooklyn), Kai Bowden (Freeport), David Briggs (Waverly), Nathan Coble (Angelica), Romario Demosthene (Brooklyn), Michael Fanton (Bolivar), Jason Gordon (South Hempstead), Janae Hamilton (Great Valley), January Harriet (New York City), Tatyana King (Queens Village), Ryan MacDonald (Johnson City), Osawaru Omorogbe-Akpata (Brooklyn), Carlisle Philip (Brooklyn), William Robinson (Jamaica, NY), Brandon Serkleski (Shinglehouse, PA), Zach Sodoma (Brockport), Allison Vargeson (Addison), Jake Vattimo (Geneseo), Samuel Volmy (Lockport), and Justin Wallace (Mount Vernon).
“The career fair provided a very unique opportunity for students to network and interview with many of the top sport industry professionals throughout upstate New York,” said John Lisec, assistant professor in the Business Department.
Serkleski said the career fair was a great starting point for students who are looking to make connections with employers.
“It was great to meet with professionals in our field and to be able to discuss potential opportunities for internships,” he said.
