Alfred State soccer players Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond), Kyle Jones (Wilson), and Nick Peraino (Geneseo) have been named All-WNYAC following the 2012 season. The Pioneers finished the year 5-8-3.
Wrestler Dan Ognibene (Alexander) and football player Alonzo Joyner (Queens) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week.
Alfred State will host the annual Alfred State Tournament this weekend. The Pioneer men will welcome Fulton Montgomery, Monroe College JV, and Rockland CC to the Orvis Activities Center while FMCC and Westchester CC will compete on the women's side.
The Alfred State women's basketball team made it four straight with a 69-58 victory over SUNY Orange on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Pioneers are now 4-0 on the year.
The Alfred State cross country team had a strong showing at the NJCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday at SUNY Delhi. The Lady Pioneers finished 3rd in the nation while the men finished tied for 5th. Athletes from 28 colleges competed in the event.
Special teams and turnovers played a huge part as Alfred State defeated Hudson Valley CC 30-24 to close out the 2012 season. The win improves the Pioneers to 5-4 and secures the program's eighth .500 or better season during Head Coach Mick Caba's tenure.
The Alfred State wrestling team finished 12th out of 15 teams at the Ursinus College Fall Brawl on Saturday.
The Alfred State men's basketball team suffered an 80-66 setback to SUNY Orange as they played their first road game of 2012. The Pioneers are now 1-1 on the year.
International Week, Nov. 11-16, kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 11 when a group of visiting Humphrey Fellows from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Lesotho will be on campus for a discussion on “Life in Africa Now”.
The schedule for Saturday's (11/10) Alfred State basketball doubleheader at SUNY Orange has been flipped. The men's game will now tip off a 1 p.m. while the women will play at 3 p.m.
