A collection of White House Christmas cards will be exhibited at the Hinkle Memorial Library Gallery on the Alfred State campus, Dec. 10-17. An opening reception for the public will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Women's soccer coach Anne Holmok and women's cross country coach Gary Moore have been named Region III Coaches of the Year by their peers following very successful fall season.
Jedadiah Platt (Appleton/Barker) and Jordan Rusek (Buffalo/Williamsville East) earned NJCAA DIII All-American honors following their top-15 finishes at the National Championships. Platt and Rusek were the top two runners for Alfred State all season long.
Six Alfred State construction management engineering technology students placed third in the Associated Schools of Construction, Region 1 competition, a major east coast event held last week in Morristown, NJ.
“We are very pleased to see our community garden gain national recognition,” said Julian Dautremont-Smith, Alfred State’s chief sustainability officer. “The garden has generated a great deal of excitement on campus and in the community and is helping people connect more directly with their food production and consumption, a key for sustainability.”
Eight members of the Alfred State football team have been named All-Region following the Pioneers 5-4 season. The blue & gold finished the year as the runner-up in Region III.
Four members of the Alfred State women's soccer team have been named All-Region. Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond), Hannah Holmok (Alfred Almond), Kelsey Murray (Greece Olympia) and Maura Tuffey (Albany/Holy Names) were all 1st team selections.
Basketball player Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) and swimmer Danielle Thone (Wappingers Falls/Roy Ketcham) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week.
The Alfred State men's basketball team got great bench play as they defeated Monroe College JV 62-55 in the consolation game of the Alfred State Tournament. The Pioneers are now 3-3 on the season heading into the Thanksgiving break.
Playing for the second time in less than eight hours, the Alfred State women's basketball team ran out of gas in the 2nd half and fell 73-66 to Fulton Montgomery CC. The Pioneers fall to 5-2 on the year while FMCC improves to 7-0.
