Ryan M. Dontoh, Dryden, who received his autobody repair degree during the ceremony, was chosen as the School of Applied Technology’s associate-degree recipient.

Dr. Stephen J. Havlovic, provost and vice president for academic affairs, who presented the award, stated “for the first time in the college’s history, we have siblings receiving this award.”
This ceremony was dedicated to veterans and those currently serving in the United States Armed Forces and featured a special tribute through a flyover of “W7,” a C-47 that was one of the lead aircraft in the first strike at D-Day in Normandy, France, during WWII.
The Alfred State Nursing Department continued its “Pay It Forward” philosophy through the awarding of its seventh annual round of “Pay It Forward” scholarships to Gary Crouse, Hammondsport, NY; John Kozlyuk, Rochester, NY; and Maura Tuffey, Albany, NY. Each recipient received $150 and good wishes from the class of 2005 who first established the scholarship.

Alfred State students at the School of Applied Technology on the Wellsville campus recently had the opportunity to restore a 1978 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II for JJ Sanchez, executive producer of the online series FIREBALL RUN. Sanchez is set to visit and address the students on May 17, 2013.
Professor William Dean, Architecture and Design, accompanied two second-year architectural technology students to the First Presbyterian Church of Bath, NY for a public presentation of conceptual designs that included new signage and a veterans’ memorial.
This ceremony – the college’s 102nd Commencement – will be dedicated to veterans and those currently serving in the United States Armed Forces and will also feature a special tribute through a flyover of “W7,” a C-47 that was one of the lead aircraft in the first strike at D-Day in Normandy, France, during WWII.
As part of the competition, the Alfred State team developed a solution paper containing a detailed analysis of conference realignment in college athletics and presented their findings and recommendations to a panel of expert judges in Chapel Hill.
The NCAA Division III Management Council announced today that Alfred State has been accepted as provisional members. The announcement moves Alfred State into NCAA DIII competition starting in the 2013-14 school year.
Student displays from six local school districts (Prattsburgh, Hinsdale, Addison, Andover, Canaseraga, Homeschool) were judged at Alfred State’s 14th Annual Regional Science and Technology Fair.
