The Alfred State College men's outdoor track & field team is ranked #8 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll when the women are ranked #10.
The Alfred State College outdoor track & field team continued their busy schedule as they competed at the SUNY Brockport Invitational on Saturday. ASC was one of eight teams that competed in cool and damp conditions.
Both the men's and women's Alfred State track & field teams sit in the latest NJCAA Division III top ten. The women are ranked #5 while the men are ranked #8.
Pete Francia (Greece Olympia) and Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) qualified for the 2010 NJCAA Division III National Championships with wins at the Blue & Gold tri-meet. ASC's men finished 2nd with 112.5 points while the women were 3rd with 76 points.
The Alfred State men's outdoor track & field team finished 8th out of 13 teams at the University of Rochester while the women finished 12th out of 14 teams. During the competition, four more athletes qualified for the NJCAA Division III National Championships.
Alfred State opened up the outdoor track & field season with an impressive showing at the ASC Easter Meet. Pioneer athletes had seven NJCAA Division III National Championship qualifiying performances.
The 2010 outdoor track & field season opener at Erie CC (Orchard Park) scheduled for Friday afternoon has been cancelled due to forecasted low temperatures. The Pioneers have now have had their first two meets of the season cancelled.
The Alfred State College outdoor track & field season opener at Howard (MD) CC has been cancelled. The Pioneers will now open the 2010 outdoor season on Friday March 26 when they travel to Erie CC to take on the Kats and Finger Lakes CC.
Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) earned a 10th place finish in the pole vault as he competed at the 2010 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held at Eastern Illinois University.
Five members of the Alfred State College indoor track & field team have earned All-Region honors based on their performances at the Region III Championships. Pam Breedlove (Rochester/East), Bridget McMahon (Avoca), Pete Francia (Greece Olympia), John Sweeney (Barker), and Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) earned the honor.
