Pioneer Woodsmen’s Take Two First Place Wins at Spring Opener

Alfred State Pioneer Woodsmen’s won first place in the men’s division and first place in the mixed Jack and Jill division in the spring opener Collegiate Woodsmen competition held recently at SUNY Cobleskill, Feb. 16. The Woodsmen’s will compete again on March 23 in Syracuse, followed by a championship competition in Canandaigua, April 19-20.The Pioneer Woodsmen’s is a student organization that studies the ideas, tools, and techniques of the competitive lumberjack community. The group practices lumberjack techniques and competes in intercollegiate competitions with teams from New York, New Hampshire, Maine, and West Virginia including Finger Lakes Community College, SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry and Ranger School, SUNY Cobleskill, Paul Smith's College, Penn State, University of New Hampshire, Colby College, Dartmouth and West Virginia University.
