Alfred State College sophomore wrestler Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) has been named a recipient of the 2009 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Athletes. Gustafson is the honoree out of all two-year wrestlers nominated.

Recently the Alfred State College athletic department handed out the 2008-09 athletic awards at a ceremony held at the Lake Lodge.

Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) led a trio of Alfred State College wrestlers at the NJCAA National Championships in Rochester, MN over the weekend. Gustafson was the lone Pioneer that registered a victory.

Four members of the Alfred State College wrestling team have earned postseason honors based on their performances at the Region III/Northeast Championships. Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) and Cody Lansberry (Kendall) earned All-Region and All-WNYAC honors while Darren Whittall (Starpoint) and Dan Dwyer (Lafayette) earned All-Region honors.

The brackets for next weekend's NJCAA wrestling National Championships have been released. Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA), Darren Whittall (Starpoint), and Dan Dwyer (Lafayette) will represent Alfred State at the 50th championship event in Rochester, MN.

The Alfred State College wrestling team finished tied for 4th place at the Region III/Northeast Distict Championship held at Niagara CCC on Sunday, February 15. Three Pioneers have advanced to compete in the NJCAA National Championships.

The Alfred State College wrestling team fell 46-10 in their regular season finale at Niagara CCC on Saturday. The Pioneers were slowed down by four forfeits on the day.

Wednesday evening's WNYAC wrestling dual match between Alfred State and Jamestown CC has been cancelled due to the poor weather conditions. The two teams will now wrestle on Friday January 30 at 6 p.m.
