The Alfred State volleyball team fell in the quarterfinals of the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament held at Onondaga CC. The Pioneers split a pair of preliminary games in the morning but lost a tough 2-1 decision to Herkimer CCC in the tournament quarterfinals.
The Alfred State volleyball team split their opening two matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga CC on Friday evening. The Pioneers defeated SUNY Delhi 25-16, 25-17 but fell to Jamestown CC 25-18, 25-16. The Lady Pioneers have two more preliminary games slated for Saturday before tournament playoffs.
The Alfred State volleyball won their fourth straight match with a 25-23, 25-15, 25-19 victory over Corning CC on Wednesday. The Lady Pioneers are now 18-7 on the year.
Volleyball player Lera Braun (Waterloo) and men's soccer player Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week. Braun helped the Lady Pioneers to a 3-1 week while Porter and the Pioneers were 1-1.
The Alfred State volleyball team had another impressive Saturday as they swept through the Finger Lakes CC Pod. With wins over Mohawk Valley CC, SUNY Delhi, and Herkimer CCC the Lady Pioneers are now 17-7 overall and 12-3 in Region III Division III play.
The Alfred State volleyball team fell 17-25, 22-25, 22-25 to Jamestown CC in a WNYAC match on Wednesday evening. The Lady Pioneers are now 14-7, 1-3 WNYAC while the Jayhawks are 17-5, 2-2 WNYAC.
The Alfred State athletic department will induct five new members into the hall of fame during 2012 Homecoming/Family Weekend festivities. Longtime athletic director Kathy Feldman, basketball player Larry Mulcahy, softball player Jodie Corsi, cross country & track and field athlete David Dominguez, and pole vaulter Kurt Dunn will join the Hall of Fame on October 12th.
The Alfred State volleyball team won one of three matches at the Erie CC Pod. They fell 3-1 to Niagara CCC (14-25, 23-25, 25-23, 20-25), defeated Erie CC 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-23), and lost a heartbreaking 3-2 final to Jamestown CC (20-25, 15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 6-15).
The Alfred State volleyball team knocked off #7 Niagara CCC in a five game thriller, 25-19, 14-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-11. The Lady Pioneers improve to 13-4 on the year while the Lady Thunderwolves are now 11-2.
For the second weekend in a row the Alfred State volleyball team swept through POD play. The Lady Pioneers were 3-0 this weekend at the Onondaga CC POD to improve to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in Region III Division III play.
