CPC, PCS, SUNY (State University of New York) Distinguished Teaching
Professor, Physical and Life Sciences Department, Alfred State College, was
named among the Top 10 in HIM (health information management), as published in
the Advance for Health Information Professionals newsmagazine.
Alfred State College's Office of Communications has been notified that it was named a recipient of three awards in the 24th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Competition, sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report publication. Winning entries were the Alfred State College total recruitment package (gold); Alfred State College direct mail advertising visit post card (merit); and Alfred State College Web site (merit).
Alfred State College's School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, will host the 11th annual New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition Saturday, March 28, 2009. Proposed categories of competition are automotive service, CNC milling, carpentry, collision repair technology, commercial baking, computer maintenance technology, cosmetology, culinary, job skills demonstration, masonry, precision machining, residential wiring, technical drafting, and welding.
Recently, Alfred State College National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) adviser Allison Keddie and a group of five ASC students attended the NEACURH (National Affiliation of College and University Residence Halls) Regional Conference at Western New England College.
At
a technician recognition awards banquet held in San Diego, CA, in November,
John Garippa, Wayland, associate professor, Automotive Trades, Alfred State
College, was honored as the NATEF/ASE (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Automotive
Service Excellence) Instructor of the
Year.
Students enrolled in the School of Applied Technology of Alfred State College, and members of the SkillsUSA Club, joined forces to collect items for soldiers in Iraq.
Student Health Services at Alfred State College has achieved re-accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The award is given to those ambulatory care centers that have met nationally recognized standards for quality health care.
Alfred State College volleyball coach Gene Doorley has earned two national Coach of the Year awards. For the third straight season Doorley has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Northeast Coach of the Year and for the second straight season he has been named the NJCAA Division III District A Coach of the Year.
Alfred State College sophomores Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) have been named All-Americans by the Division III of the NJCAA. Toyodome was a first team selection while Jerome was named honorable mention.
Three Alfred State College surveying engineering technology students were recently recognized by the U.S. Department of the Interior-Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Santa Fe Office for their exemplary work and willingness to learn while filling surveying internship requirements through that entity.
