#15 ranked Genesee CC downed Alfred State 3-1 in a WNYAC men's soccer match on Tuesday. Genesee improves to 7-1 on the season while the Pioneers fall to 1-2-2.
Sophomore soccer player Steven Hickey recently answered some questions for the Sports Information Department. Hickey, currently in his second year wearing the blue & gold on the soccer field, also is a pole vaulter and multi-athlete on the track & field team.
Alfred State and Mercyhurst North East battled 110 minutes to a 1-1 tie. The Pioneers are now 1-1-2 on the season.
The Alfred State College men's soccer game versus Jamestown CC was postponed due to frequent flashes of lightning. The teams had played less than 10 minutes. The two teams will make-up the game later in the season but no date has been determined yet.
Alfred State scored less than two minutes in to their contest versus Jefferson CC but the Cannoneers scored the next three goals en route to a 3-2 victory. ASC is now 1-1-1 on the season.
Alfred State and Mohawk Valley CC played to a 2-2 draw on day two of the East-West Showdown at Pioener Stadium. ASC is now 1-0-1 on the young season while MVCC is 3-0-1.
Lucas Wales (Bath Haverling) scored 4:04 into the first half on a direct kick to lift Alfred State to a 1-0 victory over SUNY Delhi in the Pioneers season opener. The game is part of the East-West Showdown held at Pioneer Stadium.
Alfred State's Carey Crooker (Addison) and Masanari Yamamoto (Tokyo, Japan) were honored by the Western New York Athletic Conference at the annual athletic director's meeting. Crooker was named the co-freshman athlete of the year while Yamamoto was named the academic male athlete of the year.
The Alfred State College athletic department presented their annual end-of-year athletic awards during a ceremony held at the Lake Lodge on May 3rd. The athlete of the year, sportsmanship, leadership, academic, and William Havens awards were presented.
The Alfred State College athletic department has launched a new facebook page with hopes of creating a more interactive experience for current, future, and past Pioneer athletes and fans to interact.
